Flora Geißelbrecht – Viola, voice, composition
Jelena Popržan – Quinton-Viola, voice, composition
Two violas, two voices, two contrasting yet complementary personalities, two classically trained musicians and composers who refuse to settle in any genre, instead plundering its depths, and before you know it, they're already off to new horizons. Musical traditions are explored as much as they are invented.
Flora and Jelena were already fans and role models of each other before they even met. In the flesh they met for the first time in the summer of 2022 at the "Monday Improviser's Session" in Vienna, and since they only had one viola to play, they gave a short performance with it, two bows, and their two voices—the duo was born!
Their first album,Ramificationis the consequence of their collision.Ramification– meaning branching, offshoot, or consequence – represents what springs from their core and their roots capable of branching out into a vast array of possibilities.

Jelena Popržan, a fixture of the Austrian music scene for over a decade, is considered "one of the country's most versatile and transformable musicians" (Ö1). Whether in her numerous musical projects or in the theater, she captivates audiences with her stage presence and charisma. "Wherever you listen, you are met with a multifaceted artistic will..." (Der Standard)
Flora Geißelbrecht, with her well-stocked toolbox of experimental playing, preparation, and vocal techniques, she crafts a meta-instrument from her voice and her viola that sounds both familiar and unique in jazz, folk, and contemporary music. Through meticulous sound research and blending, she achieves a seamless fusion of her voice and viola.
